The stats when it comes to male mental health are shocking: 3x as many men as women die by suicide and men report lower levels of life satisfaction than women, according to the UK Government’s national wellbeing survey. Yet despite this, men are far less likely to access psychological therapies than women: only 36% of referrals to NHS talking therapies are for men. In this event we explore why this might be, what role organisations have in understanding this, and will jointly explore how we can work together to better support male mental health.

A light-hearted but important panel on protecting employees’ work-life balance during the busy festive period. The conversation will touch on rising concerns surrounding the cost-of-living and the impact it may have on wellbeing. The panel will also set the scene for what’s to come in 2023, acting as a springboard to have more serious conversations in the new year, from the mental health challenges facing the PR & comms industry to therapy and safeguarding one’s own wellbeing.

At this event, we have invited comms professionals from within the industry to share what they’ve learned in the course of their own careers to navigate what is consistently ranked as one of the most stressful industries to work in, by staying true to themselves and practicing authentic resilience. With authenticity comes vulnerability so we will also be discussing areas of work that continue to be a challenge, whilst also giving them a chance to impart their own wisdom on parts of the job where they have learned to conserve their energy and not ‘sweat the small stuff’. We’ll explore what it means to be an authentic leader – and what employees need from their employers to not just survive, but thrive in the workplace.
